“Tonic Shock” is the second album in my discography that packs a heavy video game themed track list. This was my love letter album to the aesthetics of Tron: Legacy and cyberpunk themes. I released “Tonic Shock” in 2013 only a few years after releasing “KrimZon.”
This album shows a lot of growth since “KrimZon” and I’ve always been proud of it. It definitely has age to it now, but it still stands as the next biggest step from my first album and a new milestone. Tonic Shock is also a universe I used to write about in those years, and this album serves as a soundtrack to that unfinished story.
One day I’d like to finish writing the the Tonic Shock story and release it as a full-scale animated series. I’m really not sure when I’ll choose to pursue this, but it’s an idea nonetheless!
Synopsis
This album has a strong electronic influence with ambient undertones and fast leads. Everything about this album was made to feel like the soundtrack to a modern arcade game. Tonic Shock as a story takes place inside of a computer system, a cyberpunk infused world. I did everything I could at the time to make it sound gritty, otherworldly, and impactful.
