“Blue Night” is purely a fictitious television series advertisement made to showcase strong focus in visual effects and compositing. Featuring a local Pittsburgh Actor, David Ogrodowski, the TV show advertisement has themes of occult and mystique.
Themes surrounding noire, mystique, and the occult intrigue me the most. There’s something powerful about creating something that lets an audience question everything presented to them. I wanted to combine the two themes for this piece using basic graphics and visual effects to set the tone and style. This piece was purposefully created with a niche target in mind.
Highlights
- Chroma keyed footage of on-screen talent placed into a stylized environment comprised of basic motion graphics.
- Animated TV Show title generated with advanced particle simulation through Red Giant’s plug-in, Particular.
- Stock footage of fire is tracked to the on-screen talent’s hand combined with a displacement map to refract virtual light on the talent for added realism.
